Bodega Bay - Day 2 - July 26, 2012

A stop at The Tides Wharf in Bodega Bay before heading home

It is Bodega Bay.  There are Birds!!!

The brown house with darker deck was Eva's home

Gift stores provide great photo opportunities!

Bathroom break in Vallejo.  Spotted this sign in the distance, through the trees.

It's always good to be home.

Bodega Bay with Cathy - First Day - July 25

My niece-in-law Cathy asked last week if I wanted to go to Bodega Bay with her mid-week this week.  I was all over it.  The weather was my kind of weather; the lodging great and the food..delicious. But the company was the most delightful.  That's my new word to over use.  The matre'd at the Duck Club Restaurant came to our table after we'd completed the meal and asked, "Was everything delightful?"

First stop for a whiff of the bay and clam chowder.

Love the colors

From inside restaurant looking toward the hills.  It's Golden Season in California.

Inside Lucas Wharf restaurant.  Probably need to repair that wallpaper seam.

Do you ever have days of feeling like this guy looks?

We stopped at the Marine lab in Bodega Bay to spent time remembering, Eva Mulder, Cathy's niece; my great niece and goddaughter. Eva worked here as a Marine Biologist from the time she graduated from UC Davis until her death from pancreatic cancer at age 28.

The wall of remembrance/recognition on the front and entry into the lab.

Also a remembrance for Cathy's husband Jack who died of lung cancer.

 Can't miss a photo op.

At the beach looking back toward the parking lot.

Checking in at Bodega Bay Lodge.

Our room.  "I get the bed nearest the bathroom".

When I saw the restaurant, a flood of memories came back to me.  In the late 80's or very early 90's, I was needing a "Mom time off" few days.  Jim said he'd been reading up on this new place in Bodega Bay, why didn't I try that out".  I did, it was great and it was this same place.  Jude, who lived in Tiburon came over after work on Friday and stayed until check-out on Saturday. It's even more beautiful now because the landscape has had lots of time to mature.
